    STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

    Ty P. Affleck, MD

    Santa Rosa Sports Clinic

    Dr. Affleck earned his baccalaureate in Genetics at the University of California at Berkeley and his MD at the Medical College of Virginia.  While completing his Family Practice residency in Pueblo, Colorado, he was Medical Director for the Colorado State Championship Triathlon and an affiliated provider for the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.  After his residency Dr. Affleck was selected for a Fellowship at the Sports Medicine Clinic in Seattle, Washington, where he worked with high school, collegiate and professional athletes including the Seattle Mariners, Rainier Cup hydroplane racers, and PRCA rodeo cowboys.

    As well as heading up Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine, Dr. Affleck serves as the team physician for Sonoma State University, Santa Rosa Junior College and several local high schools, providing emergency care at events, designing training programs and overseeing the rehabilitation of athletic injuries.  He also supervises drug-testing crews for the United States Olympic Committee, volunteering his time at world-class events across the nation, and serves as Medical Director of the Vineman Triathlon, a qualifying event for the world-famous Ironman.

    Dr. Affleck is board certified in Family Practice and board qualified in Sports Medicine.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the Sonoma County Medical Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.   He has published articles in the International Journal of Sports Nutrition and The Physician and Sports Medicine, presented lectures for The Airport Club and "Team in Training", and has contributed countless articles for company wellness programs and local newspapers.

     

    Carolyn Hruschka, ANP-C

    Carolyn is a graduate of the University of California at San Francisco Nurse Practitioner program and has her undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology and Sports Medicine from California State University at Chico.  Over the last ten years she has worked in a variety of health care settings, including inpatient and outpatient orthopedics, occupational health, rural migrant health, college health, OB-GYN and most recently general neurology.  She holds a national certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the ANCC and she is a board certified athletic trainer with the National Athletic Trainer's Association.

    She joined Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine in July 2008 to combine her two loves: sports medicine and primary care.  Carolyn focuses on the diagnosis, treatment and management of acute and chronic disease.  She enjoys empowering patients through health education to maintain the healthy, active lifestyles they desire.

    Carolyn is a Northern California girl, originally from Napa.  Her husband Tom and great dog Gus join Carolyn outdoors surfing, snowboarding, doing triathlons and  gardening.  Carolyn also enjoys cooking and is always up for a good book or board game.

    Cathy has worked for Dr. Affleck since the beginning and is the senior member of the Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine gang.  A long time Forestville resident, Cathy is married with 2 adult sons who live too far away as far as she is concerned.  She loves her family time and acts semi-retired with all the vacations she takes!

    Jeanette lives in Santa Rosa with her husband and two children, and enjoys family activities, flower gardening, cooking, crafts, reading mysteries  and camping.  She's been with Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine for over a decade.  Stop by the billing window to say hello, or if you need any help with those confusing insurance questions.

     

    Chris DeSoto - Receptionist

    Christine DeSoto was born in San Francisco and moved to Rohnert Park in high school.  She has been married 20 years and has two teenage boys.  She is a former Rancho Cotati High School athlete who loves cats, reading and spending time with her extended family as well as being our local Sports Aficionado, always having the latest on games, scores and team rankings in our area.

     

    Dione Darracq - Office Manager

    Dione earned her baccalaureate at the University of California at  Berkeley and her Masters degree in  Physical Therapy from  Stanford University.  She worked in the Physical Therapy field for over 10 years as both a staff therapist and department manager, at  San Francisco’s prestigious  St. Francis Hospital Sports Medicine Center and at  orthopedic physical therapy departments in  Colorado and Virginia.  At  Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine, she serves as liaison between SRS&FM and the local community. She volunteers as a youth sports coach and is proudest of the co-ed volleyball team that brought boys’ volleyball to  Sonoma County.  She loves her kids, her family, and her Cal Bears, not necessarily in that order. 

     

    Zen – Professional Greeter

    Zen has been with Santa Rosa Sports & Family Medicine for 2 years after retiring as a breeder for Canine Companions.  He now puts that great training to use welcoming each and every patient in the door.  His happy disposition and constantly  wagging tail help minimize the aches and pains.
